I am honoured and pleased to announce that Dr James Tabor will be joining me on Blogging Theology this Friday 14th May. It will not be livestreamed but I intend to upload it on Youtube afterwards.

I have read and enjoyed his works ‘The Jesus Dynasty’ and ‘Paul and Jesus: How the Apostle Transformed Christianity’. We will be discussing James the brother of Jesus and his faith, and compare and contrast it to that of Paul and the hellenistic Christians, with particular reference to the Torah and soteriology.

Also, we will be discussing Professor Tabor’s new book on the historical Mary especially how Mark’s apparently negative portrayal of the family of Jesus (including Mary) is transformed in the later gospels and in later Catholic tradition.
