  1. It is easy to see that Islam itself is not contiguous with biblical religion even though it tries to achieve this by claiming the prophets of the bible as its own.

    • Many distinguished Christian Biblical scholars have noted strong continuities between the early Jesus movement and Islam.

      • I’d say it’s beyond that. The biblical narrative states that really the only people that the Divine chose to send messengers to were the Jewish people. Islam completely breaks with that assumption. In fact it names multiple non-Hebrew messengers that were not mentioned at all in the biblical narrative. I think the better way to look at Islam is what it claims to be; a primordial religion of monotheism that extends its roots from prior to the biblical narrative while also granting that the messengers mentioned in that prior narrative were true.

      • As is my want and which often happens, I forgot to give the source for the concept ‘sin of the world’. It is found in the Quran (33:72) and this is the correct ‘notion’ as to the occurrences that were to take place. Yet man in his corruption and foolish thinking has decided that the word ‘sin’ should be stated as ‘sins’ which is in reality total nonsense and contradicts scripture. The word SIN meant the corruption applied by man (mankind in general) in his arrogance against the TRUTH and therefore having himself thinking that he could establish ‘his own greatness’ at a snap of the fingers! LO! He became a fool and a disrupter on this planet (as well as else where)! So much for his arrogance which is found in the OT and NT when it is declared that HE, THE ONE GOD, called them ‘gods’ or vicegerents in contempt as they would go on and make mischief with the ‘lower creation’. So understand Quran (33:72) in that light and avoid making ‘mush’ out of the Scriptures.
Hints of these things can be found in Israeliat literature and some Islamic writings concerning the people who existed before father Adam but we don’t have to go down that rabbit hole but rather concentrate on the here and now and to see in what ways we can be better people in the LIGHT OF THE QURAN AND SUNNAH. That way lies Paradise!

  2. “In fact it names multiple non-Hebrew messengers that were not mentioned at all in the biblical narrative.”

    And where are their writings?

    • The next day John {John the Baptist – pbh} saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The lamb of GOD who takes away the sin of the world!
This is he {Jesus} of whom I said, ‘AFTER me comes a man who is preferred {by the ONE GOD} BEFORE me, for he was before me {even though I am older than he is in age by about 6 months, I am not elevated above him in rank}.’ John (1:29-30)
Truly according to my writings, Jesus (pbh) is indeed! The lamb of GOD who takes away the sin of the world as a SIGN or SIGNAL to the events to come.
Since his beginnings as ‘our’ adam (not THE ADAM), so very long ago and beyond the knowledge of recorded history and being a helpful and guiding light unto those that would listen and be not full of arrogance, while being appointed by his GOD to be that one, by HIS PERMISSION ONLY, to unlock the door to allow GOD’s PROPHET (pbh) to enter with THAT PURE WORD (the QURAN) and the FINAL CHAPTER IN RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION.
So understand those things in that light as one would understand that although Jesus was not put on the wooden cross to suffer, he indeed was crucified in the flesh and rose up AGAIN on the third day.
Now do you see the danger of what is ‘within’ man himself as he so interprets these things?!!!!!
A man who desires to see corruption is one who is corrupt in self and one who desires to see truth is one who pursues this truth in self. And the truth is that GOD is ONE WHO has no partners and has no needs. HE is INDEPENDENT and ABSOLUTE. So it is better for mankind to refrain from proclaiming that somehow HE has a son.
“You have met this {particular} fate because you rejoiced on the earth in things OTHER THAN THE TRUTH, and then EXULTED {REVELED} in it.” Q (40:75) See also 2 Thessalonians (2:10-12)
They say: “(GOD) MOST GRACIOUS has begotten a son {an offspring}!”
Indeed you have put forth a thing most monstrous!
At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin,
That they should invoke a son for (ALLAH) MOST GRACIOUS.
For it is not in harmony with the MAJESTY of (ALLAH) MOST GRACIOUS that HE should beget a son.
Not one of the beings in the heavens and the earth {without exception} but must come to (ALLAH) MOST GRACIOUS as a servant.
HE does take an account of them (all), and has numbered them (all) exactly.
And every one of them will come to HIM singly on the Day of Judgment.
On those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, THE MOST GRACIOUS will bestow HIS LOVE. Quran (19:88-96)

In other words be consistent with one’s evaluation within the framework of the ‘Holy Writings’. For if there is but ONE GOD, then there is but one message! So take heed in what is revealed by Paul (verses noted above) and what ALLAH says in the Quran (40:75) and make no divisions therein! Religion, real religion, is NOT a play toy!
      Ahmed Ismail

    • There are no writings that we know of. There are also multiple prophets without names that are mentioned, for instance in Surah Yaseen. The Qur’an also claims that there were scrolls of Abraham (as) of which there are no records whatsoever. None of this is part of the biblical narrative nor depends on it at all.
