Dr. Ali Ataie is a scholar of biblical hermeneutics with expertise in Sacred Languages, Comparative Theology, and Comparative Literature. At Zaytuna College, Dr. Ataie has taught Arabic, Creedal Theology, Comparative Theology, Sciences of the Quran, Introduction to the Qur’an, and Seminal Ancient Texts.
He received his BS in accounting from Cal Poly State University in 2000. In 2011, he received his MA in Biblical Studies from Pacific School of Religion, and in 2016, his PhD in Cultural and Historical Studies in Religion from the Graduate Theological Union.
Dr. Ataie can read and write Arabic, Hebrew, and Greek. He joined the Zaytuna College faculty in 2012.

You know in academic settings, not everyone who teaches about the scripture of another religion, will necessarily be a follower of that faith, right?

But your example of an athiest teaching the Quran, what about when you Christian missionaries try to teach us Muslims what our scripture “REALLY” means (according to your interpretations)?
If its inappropriate for Dr Ali, a Muslim to teach about the Prophet in the Bible, then its definitely inappropriate for you Christians (especially Ken Temple), to teach us Muslims what the Quran truly means.

This can be turned around against you.
Since the Quran has both some things that are true, and some major things that are false and wrong.
The Qur’an affirms the Previous Scriptures (5:47; 5:68; 10:04; 3:3), but contradicts the previous Scriptures (4:157; 4:171 and many others.)
The Qur’an also unknowingly affirms substitutionary atonement. (Surah 37:107)
