Keith ward makes a good point when he says that the Quran doesn’t reject Christianity it rejects a caricature. When the author of the Quran says;
“O Isa son of Maryam, (Jesus son of Mary) did you say to mankind, “Take me and my mother to your selves as two gods, apart from Allah ‘?”
Every Christian in the world would agree- Jesus never said that.
I quote the full verse from Sahih International’s translation of the Glorious Quran..
“And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, “O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'” He will say, “Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.”
Unfortunately your comment is not correct.Allmost all Christians of today make partners to Allah.They worshipped Jesus as God instead of Allah..
Some of them even make Mary as “mother of God”
as mentioned in official rosary of the Catholic Church,
“Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve! To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!..
Muslims believe the early Christians or the followers of Jesus during his time were Muslims as mentioned in the Quran, as Muslim mean someone who submits to the will of Allah..They submitted to Allah..
“‘(I, Jesus, have come to you Children of Israel), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear God, and obey me.
“‘It is God who is my Lord and your Lord; then worship Him. This is a way that is straight.'”
When Jesus found unbelief on their part He said: “Who will be my helpers to (the work of) God?” [‘anṣār ‘ilā llāh] Said the disciples: “We are God’s helpers [anṣāru llāhi]: We believe in God, and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims [wa-ishhad bi-‘anna muslimuna].
“Our LORD! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger (Jesus); then write us down among those who bear witness.”
— Quran 3:49-53
….. That’s right ryan and Jesus himself, along with every Muslim in the world would agree – Jesus never said that – exactly the Quranic point – where, in other words, the fact some Christians do take Mary “the mother of god” and Jesus “the son of god” as gods has nothing to do with Jesus whatsoever, also, Jesus having nothing to do with other misguided doctrines including trinitarian christological myths 🙂
