Richard II was crowned in Westminster Abbey on this day in 1377, at the age of just 10.

This portrait shows the king in the Coronation Chair, wearing coronation robes and holding the orb and sceptre. Dating from the 1390s, it is the earliest known portrait of an English monarch. It is on display in the nave.
