To try and put up some defense (because Lord knows they can’t) even though this wouldn’t be in their theology barring the automorphic depictions such as an old man with white hair (and basically giving him a wheelchair) is it possible the names/titles such as “Ageless One” were legit names revealed to this nation?
Possible, I suppose. By themselves, “Ancient of Days” and “Ageless one” are not shocking at all. But when combined with the elderly imagery, it’s quite shocking to apply such imagery to the Almighty.
Fair enough. I was just stating as a theoretical discussion. I noticed when I was getting to finish up responding to the BHI article a lot of pagans have names/titles for their head deities that aren’t “off” if that makes sense. For example from the Ashanti they have Nyame (meaning “he who knows and sees everything”) Who also carries the names Anase Kokuroku (“the great spider” or “great designer”), Oboadee (“creator”), or Odomankoma (“infinite inventor”).
“These parallels demonstrate the dependence of the Bible on older, pagan mythology.”
Not news to anyone familiar with O.T. studies.
Which most Christians are not.
true. Most have never even read the Bible cover to cover.
Whenever I bring this example up, they have no idea how to respond. They usually deflect.
don’t be too hard on them. Most are uneducated about the Bible.
I suppose.
