Western Christians worship a brown skinned Aramaic speaking circumcised Jew from 2,000 years ago – yet see a brown skinned Arabic speaking circumcised man from the same part of the world as alien and foreign to them.
Methinks racism lurks in the depths of the Christian West mind. Why? Because the Christians have turned their brown Jesus and his blessed Mother into nice white Europeans – just look around any Catholic Church.
Muslims however always see Muhammad in all his historical and ethnic particularity. They do not worship him or remake him in their own image.

Agreed. However, going to fire this off even more on this as it was brought up in my aqeedah class. What they’re really doing is “God is in us a bit more than you”. If you look at idol makers they all indirectly worship themselves. For example, take the Buddha:

As stewjo004 demonstrates Christians around the world tend to depict Jesus in their likeness. Why interpret that as racism? Why pick out “the Christian West mind”? Is racism absent from the Muslim world? (or, indeed any other faiths).

I think the point is that ‘Western Christians’ have depicted Christ (and others) in their likeness whereas Prophet Muhammad’s Message is rejected by some as a ‘foreign’ or ‘Arab’ religion when they both came from the same part of the world!
That and its difficult for some to accept that Jesus was foreign and in order to make him more acceptable, his appearance was altered.
