How can we admire a God who refused to disclose the fullness of truth and salvation until the very last fragment of time?

The Jesus of the gospels (Mark 13:30-33) expects the end times within the lifetime of his listeners. Paul (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 5:2-11) predicts the Second Coming (parousia) in his own lifetime. Later he abandons this. But the wait has been extended for almost 2000 years..

Two millennia, however, do not seem to be enough. If humanity is a million years old, or even a hundred thousand, how can we admire a God who refused to disclose the fullness of truth and salvation until the very last fragment of time?

  1. Exactly. Why does he come clear in 610?
