The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zina, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari)

It goes without saying that this warning has come true in our day.

Zina is unlawful sexual relations between male and female who are not married to one another.  It includes extramarital sex and premarital sex, and adultery (consensual sexual relations outside marriage). Also Zina covers fornication (sexual intercourse between two unmarried persons), and homosexuality (sexual relations between same-sex partners).
