‘SS-Standartenführer Wilhelm Hintersatz (1886-1963) was the commander of the Osttürkischer Waffen-Verband der SS, unit formed in October 1944 composed of Muslim volunteers from Turkestan, Azerbaijan, Crimea and Idel-Ural (Volga Tatars). He converted in 1919/1920 to Islam during service in Turkey and was known by his Islamic name Wilhelm Harun-el-Raschid Bey. In this footage recorded in Slovakia in late 1944 he is meeting the Uzbek unit Imam Hauptsturmführer Nureddin Namangani for the salat.’
