Mark Goodacre is a New Testament scholar and Professor at Duke University. He has written extensively on the Synoptic Problem; that is, the origins of the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. He has defended the Farrer hypothesis, and thus accepts Markan priority but rejects Q. He is a committed Christian.

I often enjoy Goodacre’s writings, so I do not intend any disrespect towards him here. Nonetheless, I would politely object that, while one is free to share their impression of John, others are free to choose not to agree with charges of creative embellishment in the absence of sound argumentation in favor of such a charge.
